Por mais que simplifiquem o trabalho do sujeito que organiza os filmes nas estantes, os gêneros cinematográficos são categorias cada vez menos estanques, com o cruzamento de linguagens que transcendem o cinema e geram filmes, do ponto de vista desta divisão, inclassificáveis. Da mesma forma, o cinema de autor e o cinema industrial, dicotomia fadada a sempre permear a lógica de produção dos filmes, ensaia novas formas de aproximação – nem que seja pela presença do filme de arte na estante como outra categoria, mais um nicho da indústria.

Temos experimentado a produção de filmes que de alguma forma refletem esta lógica. Alguns deles incentivados, com orçamento, roteiro e cronograma. Outros, ações entre amigos, feitos “nas horas vagas”, com prazo flexível e menos regras em seus processos.

O que nos uniu foi o interesse comum de propiciar uma maior contaminação entre estes formatos, seja buscando um espaço para experimentação nos filmes mais clássicos, seja evitando o hermetismo nos filmes mais experimentais, também assumidos por nós como entretenimento. Esta proposta afeta o currículo da produtora, que em sua breve existência já produziu três exposições, cinco curtas e atualmente trabalha em seus primeiros projetos de longa.

What?

Osso  is  a  film  production  center  focused  on  the  development  of  movies  that range  from  animation  to  documentary,  including  fiction  and  art  videos,  also aiming  to  investigate  and  blur  the  borders  among  these  diverse  formats  and artistic languages.

Even  though  some  people  try  to  simplify  the  work  of  the  guy  who  organizes films  on  the  shelves,  the  cinematographic  genres  are  categories  increasingly broad  and  undefined,  with  exchanges  of  artistic  languages  that  transcend  the traditional  cinema  and  create  movies  that,  from  one  point  of  view,  become unclassifiable.  In  a  similar  move,  the  auteur  cinema  and  the  industrial  cinema, dichotomy bound to influence the film production logic, rehearse new forms of approaching  from  each  other  –  even  if  it  is  through  the  presence  of  art  movies on the shelves as another category, another niche to the industry. We have been experimenting a kind of film production that somehow reflects this logic. Some of  the  works  were  encouraged  with  funding,  screenplay  and  schedule.  Others were  initiatives  undertaken  between  friends  and  developed  in  their  spare  time, with  more  flexible  deadlines  and  less  procedure  rules.  What  united  us  was  a common  interest  to  promote  a  greater  contamination  between  these  formats, either  by  seeking  a  space  to  experiment  in  more  classic  films  or  by  avoiding hermetism in more experimental movies, seen by us as a form of entertainment as  well.  This  purpose  affects  Osso  portfolio,  production  centre  that  in  its  brief existence works on its first feature film projects.
